About Ansys Parametric Design Language

As experienced finite element software users, Best Solution selected Ansys as their preferred tool for mechanical modelling as a result of the software's established reputation and highly impressive command language. Ansys refer to this as APDL or Ansys Parametric Design Language.

APDL gives the user access to the full range of pre-processor and post-processor functions. It gives the user a unique degree of control over model geometry creation, meshing, database interrogation, solution control, post processing functions, and much more. Examples include:

  • Efficient application of sophisticated boundary conditions and constraint equations
  • Macro creation for a wide range of pre-processing and post-processing functions
  • Control of the appearance of the grahical user interface or "GUI"
  • Creation of push-button GUI tools to enhance pre or post processing productivity
  • Creation of automated optimisation routines

Best Solution analysts have used APDL for over fifteen years. In that time we have not found a modelling challenge that the power and flexiblity of the APDL command language failed to meet. We regard APDL as the gold standard for finite element software, and believe that a graphical interface on its own could never match the functionality offered by APDL.

Best Solution are truly independent consultants. We are not Ansys re-sellers, nor do we receive any form of payment from Ansys. Our views and experience of APDL appear here in the hope that Ansys will continue to recognise the significance of APDL and continue with its development and support.
