Induction Motor Torque-Speed Charicteristic
Best Solution used a 2d finite element model to predict a torque vs. speed curve for an induction motor. As well as confirmation of such parameters as rotor and stator flux density, and peak starting current, a check of the satisfactory starting performance was also possible.
Starting performance can be modelled by using a time-stepping method for integrating the voltage-driven torque of the motor, to establish a new rotor speed, position and torque. With a sufficiently large number of time steps, the complete start-up profile can be simulated. This technique can be used to confirm whether workable rotor-stator slot combinations have been selected.
